As we had been thinking of a design for a bed sofa since we first started our own company it made all the sense to make our dreams official when BobW contacted us about the new hotel they were constructing in Kamppi. The hotel is a reimagined 1970s office building where brutalist charm meets contemporary Finnish design. With a rooftop sauna lounge, co-working space, and interiors crafted by award-winning studio KOKO3.
We wanted to create a bed sofa that would be easy to use for anyone. And of course, durability and looks were as important in the design plan. We tested different cushioning to make the bed comfortable to sleep in, giving enough support yet staying soft when used as a sofa. The durability of the frame was planned according to the movement of the bed mechanism. Most often the parts that experience movement are the parts that brake the easiest so we decided to go with all solid steel parts. Many prototypes were made to be sure the mechanism was flawless and that there wasn't any friction between the steel, wood and fabric that might cause issues in the future. Our experience put together in the furniture industry has made us very aware of the common and also the surprising issues a product could have. As the bed sofa would be experiencing continuous use we would have this bed sofa ready for it all!
Now we have brought the bed sofa to the market with the appropriate name 'NUKKU' and perfectly on time for the summer season! We have added some features such as the removable covers which we love for the versatility they bring to a household product. You can also choose between two types of armrests to make sure the bed sofa fits your space perfectly. The bed sofa is modular which makes it easy to upgrade the size when needed. You can choose between a Bed Chair and a Bed Sofa, depending of the space you need for you or your guests.
