The Interior Designers Association's Summer Day 2025 was a sunny day, full of hope for the future as we launched our brand new NUKU-bed sofa collection!
Our NUKU- bed sofa is a new, innovative solution for additional bedding needs. The starting point for the design was a request for an easy-care sofa bed that could be adapted to small spaces and would also withstand hotel use. We did not settle for simply designing a sofa bed, but instead created a completely new modular bed system and a mechanism that supports the bed's functionality. We focused particularly on the durability and ease of use of the functional structure of the sofa that converts into a bed. The metal frame and birch plywood structures form a sturdy base for carefully selected cushioning. NUKU is ergonomically comfortable both as a seat and as a bed. The sleek, minimalist design and interchangeable covers, which can be selected according to the intended use, contribute to the long life cycle and maintainability of the product. The sofa bed consists of interlocking bed modules and armrests. The bed chair opens up into a single bed, and the modules can be combined to form a sofa bed. The size of the sofa bed can be increased during use by adding modules. The sofa bed modules are also available separately.
NUKU was presented in Lauritzon's Randolf 389, a thin stripe bouclé-type fabric that suited the design and purpose of the sofa bed perfectly. Having removable covers in a bed sofa is surprisingly rare, although almost necessary considering the use-case! Showcasing our new star together with the whole team was exceptionally special. Our talented craftsmen had the opportunity to hear feedback for their work first hand and the platform to introduce the product from their point of view.
Our showroom and atelier is open for visits, and our team loves to show around their playground! Book your visit and let's begin the design journey of your very own sofa!
